Academic dishonesty:  Academic dishonesty will not be tolerated.  (In particular, cheating on an exam will automatically result in a grade of F for the semester.)  Each member of the university community is responsible for understanding the standards of behavior that are required.  Regarding cheating, see, in particular, Section 4a2a(2) of Part 4 of the current University Calendar.

Exams.  No aids (books, calculators, notes, colleagues, etc.) may be utilized during the exams.  Bring only a pen/pencil and your U of L ID.
For full credit, solutions to problems on the exams need to be clear and well-organized, with good explanations.  In particular, if a problem specifies “show your work,” then a correct answer with no explanation will usually receive a score of 0.  On the other hand, a bonus point may sometimes be awarded for exceptionally good explanations.

No makeups:  The instructor will not grant any requests for makeup exams or rescheduling of exams.  (In extreme and unusual circumstances, the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences may grant an exception.)  However, if it will raise the average, your Final Exam percentage will be used in place of your Midterm Exam percentage.

Homework:  Homework will not be collected or marked, but you should do all of the exercises at the end of each section of the textbook. Solutions will be posted on the class web page, to enable you to check both your  answers and your work.
Each week (no later than Thursday morning), a "turn-in problem" will be posted on the class web page. If you give the instructor (or the collection envelope by his office door) a solution to this problem no later than the start of class on the following Tuesday, then it will be marked to provide you with feedback, but the mark will not be recorded and will not be used in calculating your final grade.  To take advantage of this opportunity, your solution must be written neatly, with a clear and well-organized explanation, on standard-size paper, with your name (family name first, given name last), lecture section, and tutorial section in the top right corner.

Attendance.  Although attendance in class and tutorials is not formally required, it is very highly recommended.  You are responsible for all material covered in lectures, tutorials, or homework exercises.  Some homework problems will require additional reading from the textbook.
